Workshop Team - Sarah Bonnar

Sarah Bonnar trained for 13 years in classical, contemporary, jazz and character dance. She has been a professional Argentine Tango teacher, performer and choreographer since 2001.

She developed an exclusive and proven Argentine Tango teaching methodology, based on social Argentine Tango, excellent for adults with no previous dance training, as well as dancers at a high level wishing to maintain condition and extend their understanding of the dance, and all between.

Sarah's previous students can attest to her ability to teach tango in a way that is both engaging and highly effective.

Her methods are compatible with all styles of Argentine tango, including salon, milonguero, fantasia and nuevo.

Sarah Bonnar has given tango workshops for Ausdance ACT, the Colores Latinos at Floriade, L'Affaire de Tango, Buenos Aires at the Beach, the National Multicultural Festival, and led classes of more than 500 participants at the National Folk Festival.

From 2005 to 2006 Sarah was studying and teaching tango in Buenos Aires, returning to Australia in 2006 to be closer to her family in Queensland.

Workshop Team - Kristy Bos

Kristy Bos grew up in an environment of natural therapies and has an accumulated understanding and appreciation of the different fields and their applications. Kristy is qualified as a remedial massage therapist, and she currently practises in Canberra.

Her clients include not only those who need help recovering from sporting injuries, but also those who seek massage as a means of maintaining their physical well-being, enabling them to continue to pursue sporting and other activities (including dance). She also caters for people who require massage for emotional or relaxation reasons.

Kristy has a particular interest in how pain, discomfort, tension and limitations in range of movement are created in the body; and, of course, how to relieve them. As well as massage, Kristy has a great respect for the role of stretching in the conditioning of muscles, and the achievement and maintenance of an optimum range of movement.

Workshop Team - Ann Smith and Tim O'Shea

Both Tim and Ann have many years of experience in developing and presenting workshops and seminars.  They have been dancing Argentine Tango since 2003, studying first with Sarah Bonnar, and since 2005 with Bill Jarman  of L'affaire De Tango, in Melbourne.

They have attended workshops with numerous international tango teachers, including Cecilia Gonzales and Lucia Mazer of Argentina. While living in Canberra Tim and Ann performed publicly with the Performance Group of the Tango Social Club of Canberra. They have designed and presented tango workshops on Argentine Tango Styling, Variations and Embellishments.

What students say

"Sarah's technique is an entirely new and enriching introduction to dancing.  The concept of leading and following movements suggested by music and rhythm, as opposed to memorisation of a rigid sequence of steps, provides freedom for improvisation and room for interpretation at all skill levels.  Classes are taught in a relaxed atmosphere by experienced instructors conveying the enthusiasm and joy of dancing tango."
Britta Forster

What students say

"I found the dance classes to be different from any other kind of dancing I have done.  Tango, in this class seems to challenge us to let go to the music according to how the leading partner interprets it.  The Tango steps allow this to happen naturally.  The dance has much more feeling and intuition to it and I found it uplifting."
Jeanette Coan

What students say

"There are teachers who teach Tango steps, there are teachers who teach Tango steps and musicology, and there are teachers who teach Tango - that special combination of technique, the music and the passion of the heart. Thank you Sarah."
